ABSTRACT:
Heart valve diseases, including stenosis and regurgitation, are major contributors to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide. Traditional open-heart valve replacement or repair remains the gold standard; however, many patients are deemed inoperable due to age or comorbidities. Over the past two decades, catheter-based or transcatheter valve interventions have revolutionized the management of valvular heart disease by enabling repair or replacement without open surgery. This review summarizes the current modalities, indications, outcomes, and limitations of non-surgical valve repair techniques, including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair (MitraClip), and emerging technologies for tricuspid and pulmonary valves.
